Description
Our event in Holyhead is a major sailing event centred around the Marina and Holyhead Sailing Club and organised by the North Wales Area of the Old Gaffers Association. As well as racing, we organise a parade of sail, invariably involving a sea battle with cannon and rifle courtesy of the Anglesey Hussars. Shore side activities include Kipper Smoking, Rope Making, Coracle Building, basket making and shanty singing. There are always the usual evening parties in the sailing club, featuring, on the Saturday, the "Coffin Dodgers". For 2010 we will be adding a ceilidh on the Friday night with "Blackbeard's Tea Party" See web sites www.northwalesoga.org and also www.oldgaffersassociation.org
